Insight360 Framework

A clear structure for interpreting fundraising performance

Insight360 brings together multiple perspectives that explain what is happening, how donor relationships are evolving, and where attention is needed now.

Each perspective answers its own set of questions. Together, they form a single view that supports interpretation and decision-making.

The Five Perspectives

Together, these perspectives provide different angles on fundraising performance, each highlighting a distinct aspect of donor behavior and engagement.

Donors & Revenue

Understanding the foundation

This perspective looks at the size, composition, and financial base of the donor file.

It highlights how revenue is structurally generated and how dependent results are on specific donor groups or behaviors. For many organizations, this is where the first insight appears: strong revenue does not always mean a strong donor base.

Key question it answers:
What is the underlying strength and structure of our donor base?
Participation

Understanding presence over time

Participation focuses on who is present, who is absent, and how that changes from period to period.

It makes patterns of engagement and absence visible across time, often revealing momentum or decline that is not obvious in aggregate results.

Key question it answers:
Who is actually participating over time, and how is that changing?
Milestones

Understanding relationship progression

Milestones focus on key donor events and when they occur.

This perspective shows how donor relationships develop over time, highlighting where progress accelerates, slows, or stalls. It often reveals that long-term value is shaped early in the relationship, well before it appears in revenue figures.

Key question it answers:
How are donor relationships progressing from one meaningful step to the next?
Lifecycle

Understanding current engagement state

Lifecycle provides a snapshot of where donors stand right now.

By grouping donors based on their current engagement condition, it provides a clear way to understand growth, stability, and risk at a given moment.

Key question it answers:
Where do our donors stand at this moment?
RFMT

Understanding giving patterns and depth

RFMT brings Recency, Frequency, Monetary value, and Tenure together to describe how donors give and how relationships mature.

Rather than acting as a score, RFMT adds behavioral context, helping explain differences between donors who may otherwise look similar.

Key question it answers:
What kind of giving behavior and relationship depth are we seeing?
How the framework works together

Each Insight360 perspective is useful on its own, but its real strength comes from how the perspectives connect.

Looking at campaigns only through response or ROI provides a partial view. When those results are combined with participation, milestones, and lifecycle movement, a very different picture emerges.

Seeing which donors progressed to key milestones, such as a second gift, continued giving, or recurring commitment, often changes how the long-term value of campaigns and lists is understood.

Insight360 is not a checklist or a prescribed method.

It is a shared framework that helps make fundraising performance easier to interpret, using the data that already exists.

Each perspective can be explored further through practical examples and real-world scenarios.
